Set and Setting: 

Set and setting means one’s mindset and the physical and social environment in which the user has the psilocybin experience. Set and setting are the factors that can condition the effects of psilocybin. “Set” refers to the mental state a person brings to the experience, like thoughts, mood and expectations. “Setting” refers to the physical and social environment like music, dancing, art or movies. This is especially relevant for psilocybin experiences in either a therapeutic or recreational context. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery while using psilocybin. 

 

Integration Reminders:

Be gentle with yourself. Give yourself as much time and space as you need to process and integrate. Remember that you have just done a great deal of inner work. Honor whatever arises and allow all the feelings to be felt. Nourish your body with food and drink water. Pause on any major life decisions. Be patient and trust your process. Remember journaling, meditation, yoga, breathwork, music and are all great practices to integrate. Accept all parts of yourself, the beautiful and the challenging. Trust your process, honor and support your needs, and remember that you are always given the exact experience you need to heal, grow, and embody your highest self. 

 

Ways to change a therapeutic journey: 

If the journey on psilocybin has turned therapeutic, here are some things you can do to alter it.

~ Marijuana: The use of marijauna directly affects the psilocybin experience.

~ Music: Listen to music without lyrics, electronic dance music (EDM), medicine music or classical music.

~ Breathwork: Breathe in counting for 3 seconds, breathe out count for 3 seconds, repeat. 

~ Talking: Talk with a friend, family or therapist about your journey. Tell jokes. 

~ Meditation: Site or lay down and close or cover your eyes.

~ Writing: Write down your thoughts and emotions. Journal paragraphs, lyrics, poems, etc.

~ Art: Drawing or painting can help with emotional expression. 

~ Dance: Sit or stand and dance to lyricless music. 

~ Yoga : Balance may be affected. Find yoga poses you feel comfortable with. 

~ Charcoal capsules: Taking 2 activated charcoal capsules will directly lesson the effects.
